VibeKey Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Unblok ("VibeKey", "we", "us") covering the VibeKey keyboard application, the VibeKey API, the Drops catalog, and vibekey.app (together, the "Service"). By installing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, enabling, or using VibeKey as an input method, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to bind that organization.

2. Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old to use VibeKey. The Service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use VibeKey only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

3. What VibeKey Is, and What Is Licensed to You

VibeKey has two distinct parts, governed differently:

3.1 Keyboard engine. The typing engine derives from open source projects (AOSP / OpenBoard lineage) and is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0. The source is published at github.com/unblokapp/vibekey. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights the GPL grants you in that source code.

3.2 VibeKey services and content. The VibeKey API, the AI theme and Vibe Card generation pipeline, the Drops catalog and its delivery infrastructure, the ad and entitlement systems, the VibeKey name, logo, and visual identity, and all VibeKey Content as defined in Section 4 are not covered by the GPL. They are proprietary and are licensed to you only as described in Section 5.

3.3 Third-party terms. Using the Service also means complying with Google Play's terms and, for advertising, Google's applicable policies.

4. Ownership of VibeKey Content

4.1 Definition. "VibeKey Content" means every theme, keyboard skin, color scheme, key design, Vibe Card, sticker, animation, sound pack, preview image, Drop, collection, season, title, and the associated metadata and asset files that are either (a) generated in whole or in part by the VibeKey API or any other VibeKey service, (b) distributed through Drops, the Drops catalog, or the in-app collection, or (c) otherwise made available to you by VibeKey.

4.2 VibeKey owns VibeKey Content. All VibeKey Content, and all intellectual property rights in it — including copyright, design rights, database rights, and trademark rights — are and remain the exclusive property of Unblok. This applies regardless of how the Content came to exist or how you came to access it: whether it was produced from a prompt you typed, a preset you chose, a card you claimed, a Drop you unlocked, an option you configured, or an advertisement you watched.

4.3 No rights arise from generating, claiming, or unlocking. Generating, requesting, regenerating, claiming, unlocking, downloading, installing, applying, favoriting, exporting a preview of, or watching an advertisement to access VibeKey Content does not assign, transfer, or grant you any ownership interest in it. It grants only the limited license in Section 5.

4.4 Prompts do not create authorship. A prompt, description, keyword, tag, or selection you enter is an instruction to our generation service, not authorship of its output. You acquire no copyright, moral right, design right, trademark, or other ownership interest in any theme, Vibe Card, or other output produced from your input, and you are not the author, owner, or co-owner of that output. To the extent any right in such output would vest in you by operation of law, you irrevocably assign it to Unblok, and where assignment is not permitted, you grant Unblok an exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable license to it and waive any moral or similar rights to the maximum extent permitted by law.

4.5 No exclusivity or uniqueness. VibeKey Content is not exclusive to you. Generative systems can produce identical or substantially similar output for different users. We may generate, deliver, license, feature, reuse, modify, retire, or distribute the same or similar Content to any other user or for any other purpose, and you receive no exclusivity, first-use right, or claim of misappropriation as a result.

4.6 What collector language means. VibeKey uses collector language in the app and in marketing — "yours", "yours to keep", "your collection", "claim", "collect", "grab", "own it". These words describe your continued access to VibeKey Content under the license in Section 5. They do not mean ownership, do not transfer any intellectual property right, and do not create any promise beyond that license. Where marketing copy and these Terms appear to conflict, these Terms control.

4.7 No digital asset, no investment. VibeKey Content is not a digital security, token, NFT, commodity, or investment. Entitlements to VibeKey Content carry no monetary value, cannot be redeemed for cash or anything else of value, and are not transferable or inheritable.

5. Your License to Use VibeKey Content

5.1 Grant. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to:

That is the whole of the license. Any right not expressly granted is reserved to Unblok.

5.2 Restrictions. You may not, and may not permit anyone else to:

5.3 Duration and revocation. The license continues while you use the app in compliance with these Terms and while the relevant Content remains available in the Service. We may suspend or revoke it, and remove or disable Content, at any time — including if you breach these Terms, if we detect entitlement fraud, if a licensing or moderation issue arises, or if we retire the Content. We will not be liable for Content that becomes unavailable.

5.4 No fee, no refund. VibeKey Content is provided at no monetary cost. Because nothing is purchased, no refund, credit, compensation, or replacement is owed for Content that is changed, removed, revoked, or that becomes unavailable, and none is owed for advertisements you have viewed.

5.5 Your own imported files. Theme or card files you create yourself outside the Service and import into the app remain yours. You grant us only the license needed to store, process, render, and back up those files so the app can use them on your device. If community publishing is enabled and you choose to publish, you additionally grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, reproduce, display, distribute, and promote what you publish within the Service, and you confirm you hold all rights necessary to grant it. Files sourced from or derived from VibeKey Content are not "your own files" and remain governed by Sections 4 and 5.

6. Weekly Drops, Advertising, and Access

6.1 The weekly Drop is free, with no advertisement. Each week we publish one official Drop. For as long as that Drop is live, you may claim its Vibe Cards and its matching keyboard theme at no monetary cost and without watching an advertisement.

6.2 All other content is ad-supported. Access to every other item of VibeKey Content requires you to view a rewarded advertisement to completion. This includes, without limitation:

One completed view unlocks one item, except where the app expressly states that a single view unlocks a bundle (for example, claiming a full Drop).

6.3 Rewards are per item, not a subscription. Completing a rewarded view grants a single, non-transferable entitlement to the specific item or bundle it was requested for. It does not create a subscription, a purchasable or transferable credit balance, an ad-free state, a permanent entitlement, or any right to future content. Daily allowances reset at local midnight and do not accumulate.

6.4 Verification and anti-fraud. We verify completed views using Google AdMob server-side verification together with a random per-request nonce and a per-install identifier. If a view cannot be verified, is replayed, or appears manipulated, we may decline the unlock, revoke entitlements already granted, and restrict your access to the Service.

6.5 Incomplete or unavailable ads. If you close, skip, or interrupt a rewarded video before it completes, no unlock is granted. Ad availability depends on third-party ad inventory and your region; we do not guarantee that an advertisement will be available, and we owe no compensation when one is not.

6.6 Schedule and availability may change. Drop timing, contents, duration, archive retention, early-access rules (including share-based early access), free allowances, and which items are ad-gated are all set by us and may change at any time without notice. We do not guarantee that any Drop will be re-released, extended, or kept in the archive.

6.7 Advertising and consent. VibeKey is ad-supported. Where required, we present a Google-certified consent form before requesting ads, and you can change your choice later in the app's ad and privacy settings. Declining personalized ads does not remove your ability to unlock content; you will be shown non-personalized rewarded ads instead. Advertisements are served by Google AdMob and their content is not ours; see the Privacy Policy for what the ad SDK processes.

7. Prompts and Submissions

7.1 Your responsibility. You must have the right to submit whatever you type into a prompt or import into the app. Do not submit other people's intellectual property, other people's personal data, credentials, or anything prohibited by Section 8.

7.2 License to us. You grant Unblok a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to use, store, reproduce, adapt, and create derivative works from prompts and submissions in order to operate, secure, moderate, debug, and improve the Service. Prompts are processed by our AI providers as described in the Privacy Policy.

7.3 Moderation. We apply automated and manual moderation to prompts and generated output. We may refuse, filter, alter, or remove any generation request or result, and we may restrict accounts or installs that repeatedly trigger moderation.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to: break the law; infringe intellectual property or privacy rights; generate sexual content involving minors, or content that is hateful, harassing, or incites violence; impersonate others; spam; probe, scan, overload, or interfere with our infrastructure; exceed or evade rate limits; or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service. We may suspend or terminate access for any violation.

9. Privacy

VibeKey does not log your keystrokes and does not upload them for typing, suggestions, advertising, or analytics. Text leaves your device only for actions you trigger — generating a theme or Vibe Card — and is processed by our AI providers for that purpose. Our Privacy Policy explains what data is processed, by whom, and what rights you have.

10. Changes to the Service

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, including features, Drops, Content, free allowances, and gating rules, at any time. We may also stop supporting older app versions.

11. Disclaimer of Warranty

THE SERVICE AND ALL VIBEKEY CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. AI-generated output may be unexpected, repetitive, inaccurate, or similar to output given to other users. We do not warrant that any Content will be available, preserved, or restorable.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Unblok will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, lost collections, lost entitlements, or loss of goodwill, arising from or relating to the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred United States dollars (USD 100), reflecting that the Service is provided free of charge. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold Unblok harmless from claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your prompts or submissions, or your use or distribution of VibeKey Content outside the license in Section 5.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by disabling the keyboard and uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms. On termination, the license in Section 5 ends immediately, and Sections 4, 5.2, 5.4, 11, 12, 13, and 15 survive.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, and you and Unblok waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, or in any jurisdiction where such terms are unenforceable, nothing here deprives you of mandatory statutory rights, including the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will provide notice in the app. Continuing to use the Service after the change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
